Litotes and Computation
Ying Yuan presented "On Argumentative Functions of Litotes" at the Computational Rhetoric workshop. Litotes is "a figure of speech wherein understatement is used to emphasize a point by stating a negative to further affirm a positive, often incorporating double negatives for effect" (Wikipedia).
Ying Yuan is editor/author of Western Rhetoric classic anthology (Chinese Edition), and is co-authoring this work with Randy Harris, which investigates litotes in the Analects.
