By “interventions,” we mean the growing practice of making changes in rivers to undo changes we made in previous times. More dams are removed every year; levees are not replaced in some places after a flood has breached them. Are these considered to be “river restoration,” and in what particular ways? Read and decide for yourself!
In addition we have our regular “column” inclusions, on teaching and practice, new materials for review, primary sources for continued inquiry, diverse geographical ranges and deliberately divergent points of view.
We hope you enjoy the issue; please do feel free to share it. We welcome your comments, ideas, and suggestions.
Happy reading!
