New Journal Announcement: Pedagogy and Theatre of the Oppressed Journal
Launch & Inaugural Issue
The Pedagogy and Theatre of the Oppressed international organization is
pleased to announce the launch and inaugural issue of Pedagogy and
Theatre of the Oppressed Journal, a peer-reviewed, open access, annual
publication dedicated to showcasing written and creative work in popular
educational and liberatory theatre.
The mission of PTO Journal is to create a scholarly and community-based
space for critical dialogue about oppression and liberation, and to
foster collaborative connections that share, develop, promote, and
document how transformative theory (including, but not limited to,
Pedagogy of the Oppressed and Theatre of the Oppressed) can affect
social change locally and globally. The journal is dedicated to
unveiling the lived experiences of communities we belong to and interact
with, and struggling against systemic oppression in the pursuit of
freedom.
PTO Journal will feature work in various forms, including research
papers, literary essays, manifestos, production and book reviews, photo
essays, video projects, poetry, reflections on sessions and experiences
at PTO conferences, community-based voices and actions, and other hybrid
projects that address popular education and liberatory theatre.
The PTO Journal editorial team is committed to assisting artists,
educators, and activists new to publishing, and ideas and inquiries may
be directed to the editor at ptojournaleditor@gmail.com prior to
submission. Submissions to the journal are welcome at any time, but
submitters should visit the journal website for information about
deadlines for special calls and publishing dates.
