CFP Comics and Medical Controversies
Established author is in contract for book about medical-ethical controversies and comics (past or
present). Editor has a long track record of well-received academic monographs and edited collections on
related topics. The book is geared toward the general public as well as interdisciplinary scholars and
creators (comics, pop culture, history of medicine, medical ethics, etc.), so all entries should be
accessible to a wide readership, with parenthetical explanations for discipline-specific terminology.
Emphasis is on superhero stories, and “comics” can include comics, film, video, graphic novels, etc.
SPECS: Chapters are 3500-5500 words; 5-25 endnotes U Chicago 17 th edition style (available free online).
Chapters due by Halloween (10-31- 2016). Requested revisions due by Thanksgiving (11-26- 2016).
Chapter authors receive a complimentary book copy but do not receive financial remuneration.
Pl send a 100-300- word abstract with a short bio. Feel free to send a 1-2 sentence query to confirm that
your topic of interest is still available or if it can be adapted to conform to the publisher’s pre-approved
chapters. There may be opportunities to collaborate with authors from other disciplines. If you have a
previously unpublished MS on a related topic that might be revised to this purpose, pl send query first.
