Book title: Pedagogy, Disability and Communication: Applying Disability Studies in the Classroom.

Book title: Pedagogy, Disability and Communication: Applying Disability Studies in the Classroom.

Publisher: Routledge

Editor: Michael S. Jeffress, PhD (michael.jeffress@nicholls.edu).

This book focuses on incorporating interdisciplinary Disability Studies into Communication Studies courses. Each chapter (6,000-8,000 words) takes a particular course and discusses the need and rationale for incorporating Disability Studies into it and then focuses on pedagogical strategies for doing so. Case studies from personal research and/or class assignments/activities should play a prominent role in the chapter. I need contributors who can serve as lead authors only for a chapter on Public Speaking and for a chapter on Interpersonal Communication. I plan to serve as a second author on these two chapters.

If your teaching and research intersects with Disability Studies and either Public Speaking or Interpersonal Communication, then please send me an abstract for a proposed chapter (michael.jeffress@nicholls.edu).  The deadline for abstracts is Wednesday, April 20, 2016. If selected, the first draft of the chapter will be due by Friday, May 27, 2016.
